Hi, I'm new. A month ago I ordered a sunburst Fender Classic Series '70s Jazz bass, and some days ago the dealer gave it to me...I love it, despite a small crack in the body finish (who was, the dealers?, the traveler?, the distributor? :? :x ). But no more. The main thing is the sound quality, it's better and more versatile than a Squier Affinity P-Bass (which i sold to buy a Gibson SG Standard) and an Epiphone Viola which I sold to get the 70s J. It can get the muddy sound of my ex-Viola Bass but also I can be like a post-punk bassist, with all the growl, Tracy Pew of Nick Cave's The Birthday Party used it extensively (but did he have another Jazz, because i will probably buy another 70s J with the black finish). Andy McCluskey of OMD also used one. If you love Nick Cave (his music) or post-punk or even surf rock, this bass is for you. That mexican bass is better than a Fender American Standard P-Bass I tried some years ago.

Well, I tried a true Fender gun and it wasn't a mistake (except for the crack), so i questioned...why doesnt Fender Mexico reissue a similar guitar to my beloved 70s Jazz...a 70s Jazzmaster and a 70s Jaguar, with the beautiful burst finish and other options like then (black? white? red? natural?). As they also proved to be less popular than the 60s versions, but you can see what's happening with the 70s reissues Fender Mexico is making for years. Probably the reissues should have those black pickguards like my Jazz, more akin to mid-70s examples (the 70s Jazz resembles almost exactly to a 1976-1977).

I know Fender reissued these offsets in their 65-66 version, but they are expensive. The new Squiers don't seem bad but they lack some elements of the classic offsets we surely love to see again in a more affordable version. If the 75 Jazz Bass is for Fender USA Vintage and the Squier Jazz Bass with block inlays is for the cheap Vintage Modified and they have a Fender Mexico version, why don't the Jazzmasters and Jaguars have a version in the latter, the Squiers resemble the 62-63 versions and the Fender American Vintage are a reissue of the 65-66 versions, so the MIMs should resemble those from 1966-1967, 1968-1974 or 1974-1975 (for the case of the Jag)/late 70s or early 80s (for the case of a Jazzmaster) (Rowland S. Howard anyone?).

Some months before the reissuing of the 65' Jazzmasters/Jags, somebody created a topic for those. But he/she didn't wait those dreams becoming true in the mid-year. I suppose many would appreciate this post.

Well, I wrote many things in this first post. Because I had many thing to say about those issues and reissues of the Jags and Jazzmaster and as a result to have a quality instrument like my 70s Jazz Bass, made in Mexico but better than some basses I had or played.
