1.Fender Modern Player Marauder
2.Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster (NOT THE 2012 MODEL)
3.Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar (NOT THE 2012 MODEL)

If you would have the 2012 versions of the Jazzmaster and Jaguar as options I would have said one of those. Because that is not an option, I choose the Marauder.
I had the choice of the Marauder or the Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster last year and I chose the jazzmaster.

Hey,

I own a Maurader. The Maurader is a great guitar for the price. Good build quality and a nice array of sounds. If it was my choice to make, thats what i'd go for. The maurader has a 'triple bucker' in the bridge position and a jazzmaster style pickup in the neck - so its a trade off (pickup wise) between the two squier models you listed.

I've owned squers in the past and each one has left a little to be desired. Admittedly I've not owned any of the more recent models so I can't vouch for their more recent guitars.

I do own a fender jaguar however. The scale is shorter than the maurader (not sure if the squires scale is identical). They feel a little different to hold and play. But also a great guitar. I have no experience with jazzmasters though.

It depends on what floats your boat in the end. I must admit I've heard alot of positive things about the new squier vintage modified guitars.

Id go for a humbucker guitar (maurader or the jag) for the style of music you mention.

All 3 guitars look the bees knees though. Im a big fan of offset waist guitars!

Let us know what you end up going for!

Go for the Marauder. It'll be much harder to find in the future and there will be plenty of Jags and Jazzmasters for sale (new and secondhand) for a loong time.

Sergyu 2500, I've gone throught a1989 Les Paul specal, a 2010 HSS Strat specal with texas pu's, and have setteled on a 2012 Jaguar HH specal both for the sound and the 24" scale is what my short fingers can fret. Tho I'm swaping out for the hard tail for a Jaguar tremelo.

All of the axes you've listed are nice guitars. I injoy my Jagauar for its 24" scale of corse but its range of sound is what got me. Two humbuckler pu's plus the eletronics and wiring give me a wide range of sound. I can set it up so with one flick of one switch it sounds like a complety different guitar useing one of the two pu's singlely or blended toughter.

Jaguars are known for there surf and grunge sound big time. I can easly see a Jag getting a great alternative sound and it could make a good ax if your looking for a guitar to cut through the loud heavy punk sound.

Best advice I can give is: take time, maby many visits to the music stores as soon as the doors open in the morring when theres no one else there so you can hear the guitars as clearly as possable. I should have done that more my self. DUH!
