Kurt used a lot of different guitars to play. As for "black strat" I'm a little confused. Is there a particular one you are looking for? I myself have a black standard fat strat and it does play nirvana well.

The tone of a guitar is not defined by it's color but many other factors like the pickups, string composition and pitch they are tuned to. Other factors are the means you use to get the guitar's signal to the amp like the quality of the cord you have or your wireless set up. The amp (Tube vs. Solid State) and how the tone controls are set has much to do with tone generation as does your effects chain as well. Speakers and the cabinets they are in have a lot to contribute to tone as well.

Precisely. If you really want a black strat try a few of them out and find the one you like. After that try to see if it comes in black.

It looks like it, but go here:
http://www.kurtsequipment.com

Kurt had a guitar like that in which he changed the pickups from a white humbucker to a black one. It mentions this there. It also has all of kurt's guitars that his tech worked on listed.
