Love the JagMarr

but is anyone having issues with the finish...while I can bump and ding a guitar as good as anyone else, my Marr Jag in KO has a few places where the finish has simply flaked off...anyone else having this issue ?

I've heard around that there have been some problems now and again

On the other hand, I have a 96 MIA American Standard Strat that has a few dings too, but has not shed the first flake of its finish ( though I realize the finishes are not exactly the same, one of the guitars is 16 years old and the other is mere months )

thanks for any responses

Lawrence

Lawrence, I have the white JMarr model and there have been no paint / finish issues since I bought Jan 2012. The Jag is a tone machine, particularly for surf and jangly stuff. My problem is with the neck.

I've recently had a Johnny Marr Jaguar less than 2 months old returned from Fender with just this problem. They accept that the finish is dull in the affected area but believe this is due to mishandling. I can see their point as it does have a chipped appearance. I also have a Telecaster bought new in '74 and still chip-free. I'm very careful with my guitars. How can we get Fender to resolve this issue?

My white JM Jag has a pretty big flake. Yea, it's buckle rash, but this guitar, as great as it is, definitely has a flawed finish. There's a lot of noise in the offset forum about the problem too, with people talking about refinishing the guitar, etc.

I've seen a lot of complaints about the white ones chipping and flaking, but this is the first time I've seen an issue with a KO. Mine's still good, apart from a ding. I had assumed the white one is nitro and the orange one is acrylic, which would account for the differences. Now I just don't know.

Some people pay an extra $1000 for a brand new guitar that's chipped and scratched up. Consider yours a bargain!

(Sorry, just couldn't resist a poke at the "distressed" guitar fad).
