Hi,
I've been looking for an early KING acoustic guitar for sale. Any info and/or leads would be appreciated.

How much should I expect to pay for a nice vintage one?

Any other KING or early Fender acoustic collectors/owners here?

Thanks

I have a King serial number 149. I paid $300 in the early 70's - no idea what it might be worth today - but I've been told the only reason it might have any collectors' value is that Bob Dylan used to have one when they first came out.
As an instrument, I love the neck. What's not to love? It's like a rosewood Strat neck from 1963. But with the weird bridge it's tricky to set up for low action. Worse yet the body keeps cracking along the grain, despite the fact I keep it stored in the basement during the long dry Montreal winters. I've had the body re-built twice but it just cracked again.
Also even when the cracks are mended, it's not very loud. I am thinking of canniballizing it. Maybe buy a low-cost Strat body and attach this brilliant neck.
