Hello,

A lot of my favorite bands play the 62 Jazzmaster and love the warm guitar sound. Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine and Swervedriver all play the 62 Jazzmaster.
I am wanted to purchase a 62 Jazzmaster guitar American Re issue but was worried I would not get the same tone as the vintage 62 Jazzmaster due to different pick ups.

Does anybody know if the 62 Re issues have the same pick ups as the vintage?

Didn't want to drop the money on a Re issue if it is not going to sound similar. Unfortunately, I do not have a vintage 62 Jazzmaster to compare. I would rather save money for a vintage if noticeable difference.

Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks! :)

Wow! 32 views and not one comment.

I apologize if this issue has been over discussed,
Just wanted to get some feedback as far as the American Reissue 62 Jazzmaster.
Should I go vintage or RI regarding sound.

Any feedback would be great!!!

I don't know if I can be much help to you. I have a American Vintage '62 Jazzmaster. It was made in 2003. They don't make these anymore. I don't have a "Reissue". I'm not clear on the difference between mine and the Reissue. So I can't compare the pickups. All I can say is that I love the tone of mine. The neck pickup has a nice growl to it, great for slightly overdriven tones. The bridge pickup is classic surf tone, but also good for Cure-like single-note clean tones. They're a little hotter than typical single-coil pickups. Definitely hotter than my Tele pickups. It's probably my favorite guitar. Hope that helps.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for adding your comments.

IceTre: It sounds like you do have a re issue and it sounds like you love your guitar! You said it was your favorite!

Rob Schwarz: thanks for the Demo.....I decided to buy the 62 AVRI....Just received it yesterday!

It is beautifull!!! Sounds warm and has a great tone like I imagined!

IF I hit the lottery I will buy that 65 Jazzmaster that just came out...I like that Aztec Gold!
