I do not recall mine doing this at all. However I could see this happening.

Put a sock in it!

Seriously, or you could stuff a piece of foam under the strings where the strings meet the tailpiece. (between the three screws and the tailpiece.) Not the firm foam that they use with the mute but the airy kind. Your local hardware store sells rolls of weather stripping in many different consistancies.

Light airy foam should kill the ringing without killing sustain.

But I never noticed ringing with my Classic Player Jaguar Special (SS) same guitar diff. pickups.

The classic player has the trem tailpiece set closer to the bridge than the vintage which also increases the string break angle. This has the effect of increasing sustain somewhat and decreasing the harmonic sympathetic ring (and raising its pitch) in the section behind the bridge. It also helps keep the strings from popping out of the bridge saddles like the vintage models used to do. But I don't think there is anything you can do to get more ring, if that's what you want.

no, it's the opposite, i want to stop entirely that ring. i was just wondering if in this model it's normal, like the vintage models, for the strings behind the bridge to ring, like they do with my guitar, or if those modifications to the bridge and tremol system in the classic player series are suppose to stop the ringing entirely, and if so, can my guitar have just a bad setup that somehow i could fix.

you see the question was intended to know (i did n't express myself very well) if it could be just a setup issue or if it is the guitar series that has that issue.

thanks

It's a basic property of this kind of design. The HH Player reduces the ring somewhat, but frankly, many people buy the guitar for that effect. So if you don't want it, just get a strip of felt (preferred) or foam at a local hardware store and wedge it under the strings toward the trem end. That will mute the ring. If it still rings after muting with felt, then it may be something else buzzing or rattling.
