I own two American standards. A Tele and a strat. I take good care of them and keep them in their cases and keep them very clean. I need to do this with three kids a dog and a shag rug. I wanted a less expensive go to guitar that I can leave on the stand and one that I would not have to worry about as much.
After looking at my GS for a few hours I decided on the Jaguar Blacktop. It's all black and beautiful. I was surprised at the construction.the neck is almost like my standards.Top quality neck, finish and construction. The shorter scale threw me for about 5 minutes but once I got used to it im telling you it's a lot of fun.
It has inspired me to play other music. I love my standards but this is a great, versitile go to guitar that i will enjoy for years and pass down to one of my kids :D

I bought a Jag Blacktop HH for similar reasons. I am just a hack player, so I can't comment on the tonal qualities, playability etc. but in the store the instrument seemed very solid and simple to operate with just one switch and two pots. The neck is really nice, and the weight, and body sculpting are very comfortable. A few problems soon surfaced. The toggle switch was not properly grounded. This was "fixed" but the grounding noise is still evident. The instrument comes with 0.009 strings. I switched to 0.011 because the low E and A were really loose and sloppy. The G has weird twang to it. I have also noticed that the Tone pot has no effect on the instrument's sound. Mind you, I don't have an "ear" but still...nothing. So it seems like a good buy at $499, but I am interested to know if it becomes a "go to" instrument for you, or a $499 dust collector.

If it doesn't have a power tube in the circuit...I'm not that interested
