Have not played for years and have modest sized hands. That said; can the neck of a Strat or Tele be exchanged in some way with that from a 24 inch Jaguar neck?

Not if you expect the guitar to fret correctly.

There is too much scale-length discrepancy between the Strat or Tele and a Jaguar (or Mustang for that matter).

I thought as much that would be the situation. Was trying to think outside the box. Thanks for the replies!

Why not merely trade for a Jaguar?

There are many Jag models with many different pickup and switching options now -- one may be right for your specific needs.

Or conversely, if you need the smaller body as well as a shorter scale, the Mustang might be just the ticket. AFAIK, Strat pickups are a drop-in fit to a Mustang's pickguard so you'd have some options.

Arjay: Thanks again/appreciate the time! I am apt at this stage to grab a Blacktop Jag HH (http://www.fender.com/products/blacktop ... -jaguar-hh) felt good thus far. May hook it up with a Orange Crush PiX Series CR20LDX 20W 1x8 Guitar amp, but have yet to combine the two. I used to have a Gretch Chet and Hagstrom (Original made in Sweden) both stolen, now an F20T. Liked it! Easy action and all, but 24 3/4th stretch which was not bad. I am open to suggestions and would like to stick to under $1,200.00 for both.

What Arjay said.

But, remember that standard Jags (Reissue and Classic Players) NOT the HH models are much quieter than Strats and Teles. The pickups are actually hotter but they use 1 meg ohm pots as opposed to the 250K ohm pots found in most Strats and Teles. That's what gives them their unique sound.

If you are using a Super Reverb or Twin Reverb, that really isn't an issue because you have plenty of juice to spare in those amps. Just turn up up a little more. (In this respect, the Twin Reverb is kind of like the SR-71.) With a champ or Princeton, you might be disappointed, I haven't tried it with a Deluxe Reverb so I can't say.

One easy mod to consider is swapping out the 1meg pots for 500k pots.I also have not tried this but am itching to try it. I hear that it really wakes up the instrument. But some of the traditional Jaguar sounds will fade away with that mod...

@Art.......Thanks for input. I am going to try out the JAG HH once again. It sounds as if you are quite familiar with them. Which of the models do you prefer? I just took the Strat for a ride as the SG, but still prefer the 24" stretch. I did speak with some one about changing the pots and was informed the sound would in fact be altered. Again Thanks!!!!

I actually prefer the Jag SS configuration. I have a Epi LP if I want humbuckers. Both play well through the Champ 600 in the house but both need something with a lot more juice when playing out.

But the the Classic Player Jag HH has an incredible wealth of tones. Most people that own them love them. You can search through the threads "other Fender Guitars" and see their views.

With the various models of Jaguar available today, there really should be a model for everybody as long as you like the 24 inch scale. If you like the 7.25 radius then there are models out there including existing stock of the 62 American Vintage Reissue, and the 65 Vintage which replaced it this summer. There are 9.5 inch radius versions, like the Classic Players and 50th Anniversary, if you like bending strings.

Try as many as you can in as many different amps as you can. The entire line sounds great and the more power and headroom the amp has, the better the Jag gets. Check them all out until you find one that talks to you, sings to you.

That's the best advise I can give you. Play them all. You will know the right one as soon as it begins to sing. :)

One more note: If you do get the Blacktop HH, consider changing the stock .009 - .046 strings for a set of .010 - .046. The 9's will not be under very much tension and to me seem very sloppy and prone to buzzing. 10's on a 24 inch scale feel very similar to 9's on a 25.5 inch scale and bend quite easily.

Hello,
there is a chance to change the Neck of a Strat or Tele. You can see it
on this Site:
http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/necks/strat_conversionneck.aspx

Hope that helps.....

Greetings from Germany....

Thanks again Art and to all! I just went to Sam Ash and Guitar Center. Can not get hold of a JAG HH Special Edition which has a Neck Shape: "C" Shape Number of Frets: 22
Fret Size:Vintage Style Frets THIS IS KEY>>Fretboard Radius:7.25" (18.41 cm). I was wondering IF I can/Fender switch this into a Standard HH Blacktop Jag? Overall I love the TELE but the 25.5 stretch is just a bit too much for my finger size.

Do they not have then online either?

Fender CS will build whatever you want, but it will cost quite a bit more than the "stock" Jag HH Special.
