...a remarkable, smoky vibe perfect for soul-jazz, tiki-lounge sounds, and general ambient, downtempo blissfulness. If you are one of those who doesn't put the switch in the "rhythm" position, do yourself a favor and do so-you can get a surprising Jim Hall/Kenny Burrell sound with the amp's bass and treble each around 5, reverb at 2 and volume at 3. Especially good if you are backing a singer or horn player and like to comp.

Good stuff. Thanks.
How do you like Jaguars in the same settings?

To be honest, I don't like Jaguars. I like the car of the same name, though. I think you could get a very nice tone out of a Tele, and Strats do just fine for jazz. Front pup, of course, in each case with the tonqw about 4-5.

Gotta have that tone.
I'll rush out tomorrow and get a Jazzmaster.
Thanks for the heads-up :)

"Front pup, of course, in each case with the tone about 4-5." is what I meant. A larger hollowbody guitar still does best, but the JM adds a little bit if shimmer. My only gripe is how noisy the pickups are, but I don't want to change them (Mine is a '71).

Yes, a jazzman with single coils...and an ES-335 when I need to double up...Memo to Fender....Bring back Guild electrical, esp. the hollow ones. And don't even think about making them anywhere but the U.S.!!

My thinking is that with all the post guitar in-line techology available,
one could make or get any sound(s) or tone(s).

I have been looking at some cool Line-6 Pods. Have you?

I have a PODxt and the HDs are nice, but I am an analog man when it comes to effects and even with recording I prefer the old-school. For that matter, I barely touch my pedals. I feel like the guitar breathes and lives, and when using processing it turns into a controller.

Do you use Fender analog tube reverb tanks, rather than pedals

I have three early 1960s Fender Reverb Tanks. I cannot locate my blonde tank.
Following is a picture of some of my amp heads.
The bottom two are reverb tanks. Toppscore.

No reverb tank, My Vibroverb and Mesa/Boogie amps have 'verb, my two smaller amps do not, but there are delay settings that get round it. I only use reverb around 2, and like it to trail off rather than grab the surfboard,

Toppscore :)

Toppscore :)[/quote As I said, they have their place, especially for recording, but, to me, don't breathe like the guitar and amp of your choice. Digital is not the real thing, but a remarkable facsimile....less buttons=more tone. Small amps=more tone.

Nicely put.
I have several stomp pedals and three early 1960s reverb tanks, but I
seldom use them, lately. But, soon, I want to get a pedal board complete.
I have noticed my old pedals, and old pedals in general are worth good money.

Last week I purchased a 1994 Fender Custom 1962 Reissue Jaguar.
Along with it and at no extra charge are the following two items:

Maxon OD808 Over Drive Pedal

Fender Frontman PR-241 Amp * 8” Speaker, 38 watts, Headphone Jack

Cool stuff. Toppscore 8)
