Hello all,

I was wondering if the two versions of Classic Player Jag; H/H and S/S, shared the same routing.
That is, if I were to buy a S/S and decide that I wanted it to be H/H later, could I just buy the pickups and pickguard to swap them out without having to rout the body for the pickup size difference?

First guess is no.
But, there are after marked sellers of "loaded body parts" without necks.
Ask them what the routing is.

There are humbuckers available that fit the single coil cavity. But there is more to the Classic Player H/H than that. The electronics are wired differently, especially on the upper horn.

Right, Art!

I was eyeing the Classic Jaguars and forgot there are three sections
of controls which is the reason I thought they were so cool.
1 Upper horn
2 Lower horn
3 Lower bridge

When I scored on a 1994 Fender Custom 1962 Reissue, for the same price
as new MIM Classic Jaguars, I jumped on it.

Love all of the tone and control options. Toppscore :)

The upper horn controls on the H/H are not the bridge pup only as they are on other Jags. On the H/H they control the coil splitting of the humbuckers to make them Humbuckers, single coils, and combinations of the two.

If you don't want all that functionality, the existing controls should be able to control the buckers the same way they control the single coils.

Not quite sure I understand.
My new 1994/1962 Jaguar has two single coil pickups
with controls in the three areas. Will have to get a better
sense as to what they do. Toppscore :)

Topp,
I was responding to the original poster.

For yours, please see this link... http://support.fender.com/manuals/instruments/Jaguar_%281965%29_manual.pdf
This is for the 65 Jag but it is essentially the same guitar.

Cool, Art. I saved that link. Thanks

Does not the Classis Jaguar HH have the three areas of controls that are different between SS & HH guitars?
Don't the bottom horn controls wire differently on the SS than the HH?
I could be wrong. PLMK. I was about to purchase one before I got my 1994/1962 Jaguar

I see that Fender has:
Classic Special Jaguar HH
Classic Player Jaguar HH
Blacktop Jaguar HH

I feel the main difference between the Player and the Special are the pickups.

The CP HH and SS use different wiring for the third switch on the lower horn SS (low cut) HH (kill switch)
CP SS upper horn is bridge pup only with 1meg ohm volume and 50k ohm tone

CP HH upper horn controls both pups (splits them into single coils etc...)

Blacktop HH is a totally different animal and I would suggest trying one out in a store. You either love 'em or hate 'em. volume, tone, and 3 position toggle.

Thanks. In my mind, there is differnt wiring. All I need to know.
I have my Jaguar, and real USA made one, as well.
And at a reasonable price. Thanks again. Toppscore :)

Two out of my three are American made (one is CS.) But I still love my MIM CP. It's a righteous instrument.

Yes. Why did you get the Classic Player rather than the Classic Special?
Just a few dollars more. Toppscore :)

Then I assume it the HH's that cost a bit more.
I always seach "Fender Jaguar HH" so, I have not studied the SS.
Until my recent purchase.

BTW. I just started a thread within this "All other guitars forum"
about modifying or not modifying guitars. What years are OK.
Hope you chime in. Toppscore :)

I think the Classic Player HH Special lists for $100 more.
