Can someone please help me?

My new Kurt Cobain Jaguar has given me nothing but problems.

When the guitar arrived, brand new in the box, it didn't even have a functional neck pickup. I contacted Fender and they sent me to a local repair tech. After 1-1/2 to 2 months of waiting for a replacement pickup, I finally got it back and it played great for about a week.

I was playing it and all of sudden the area between the tune-o-matic bridge and the tail-piece started making a loud resonant chiming sound. Now the bridge is louder than the rest of the guitar! I also noticed that the pick-guard is now extremely warped and makes the pickups look out of alignment now, almost as if the entire guitar has been thrown out of balance even though everything looks pretty normal apart from that.

When I play with distortion, every time I play a chord and stop, the bridge makes a loud noise as if I just strummed behind the bridge.

I'm aware of the normal buzzing problems with Jaguars but this is not normal and the guitar was not having this problem earlier. I've looked at numerous YouTube videos reviewing the guitar and none of them have the bridge resonance problem I've been having.

I took it back to the guitar tech and he couldn't figure out what the problem is.

I called Fender customer service again, the guy on the phone was kind of a jerk and just kept telling me to take it back to the same guitar tech that told me he can't fix it.

I spent two months waiting for the guitar because it was on back-order to begin with, and now that I've spent months waiting for all of these repairs Guitar Center refuses to help me return or exchange it. I've only had it in my possession for about 2 weeks and I bought it 6 months ago!

PLEASE HELP!!! I spent about half a year saving up for this guitar and I'm honestly getting sick to my stomach over all these problems.

Are there any Fender employees that moderate this message board that can help me?

Is anyone else having the same problem or has an idea of what might be wrong?

I appreciate any help you can give me.

I'm not entirely sure but could you be referring to the third bridge effect? If so, it's kind of part of the whole Jaguar thing.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm a huge Sonic Youth fan and that was part of the reason I was interested in buying a guitar with the Vibrato Tailpiece so I was well aware of the normal problems with the bridge.

When the guitar was functioning properly, you could strum on the "third bridge" and it wasn't very loud. Playing guitar normally, it didn't make any noise.

Now, particularly with distortion, if I play a chord and mute it right away, the sound continues to resonate through the tailpiece VERY loudly. I would've thought it was just a normal part of the guitar, but it was not this resonant when I first received it.

I think the Vibrato tailpiece is fine, it must be something to do with the tune-o-matic bridge. It also sounds as if it is electrified. If I tap it with a pick, it sound as if I was tapping the pickup directly, which may be why it's making the bridge sound so loud.

It's a very strange problem. If I wrap the strings by the tailpiece with a rubber band, it dampens the sound enough so it's not noticeable, but I really don't want to have to play with a rubber-band wrapped around the strings just to make a $1300 guitar work properly.
