I was doing a little work on my CP jazzy and when I went to reinstall the bridge pickup the magnets came off! What is the best way to reattach them? I just have a 25w soldering iron which doesn't get the magnet hot enough to melt the wax. Is it okay to use a glue gun or good 'ol super glue to reattach the magnets? Any other suggestions on getting the magnets back on?

Ill try and get one later today. The magnets are just held on by wax on the bottom of the bobbin. Here is image of the bottom of the bridge pickup I found on-line.

Mine just did too!!! I took my JM apart to fix a loose jack and for curiosity pulled the cover off the pickup, and the magnets fell out.

I wonder if the 100 degree days did this.

Sorry for poor picture. I took it with my laptop.

I think it may be a issue with glueing them on with wax on the bobbins? I'm thinking of trying some Alnico 2 magnets when I get around to rebuilding. Cleaning off some of the wax and the glueing them on may do the trick.

Yours had all that brown crap. Mine had none of that brown crap. What gives?

Mine seems to be holding on now. I cleaned the wax off and just used super glue.

Thanks.

I couldn't help but notice, why does the neck pickup have a metal plate holding the magnets in, yet the bridge pickup doesn't?

My guess from reading about Fralin's base plates for Strats is that is increases output a bit. I think this ends up cutting some treble and adding more bass.

They fell of my CP JM two days ago, too - again, hot weather. But I can't get them to stay on. How did you clean the wax off? You can scrape it but there is still a residue that seems to prevent glue from adhering.
