Hi, I am new to this forum and just wanted to get involved with the fender website as it is my favorite guitar company. I just recently purchased the 50th year special edition Fender Japan Jaguar thinline, I love the look first off, great finish, wood, I have the 3ts, I just did Block inlay on the already bound neck, I love B&B on jaguars and I thought this thing definetly should have that final touch, I used Celluliod pearl inlay material, I have videos of that process on "youtube@, check out Fender jaguar thinline block inlay, and you see my demo of the guitar and before and after shots of my vintage correct neck modification, the sound is better than any jaguar I have ever played, the semi hollow body definetly gives it a different tone, longer sustain, kind of like an echo, slightly, my particular jag has very low action on the neck. And no buzzing , great action, and the tailpiece vibrato system works better than any jag/jazz tailpiece I have ever used, the term lock works exactly as should, easily and properly, and bar stays where ever you leave it, without having to tape the end of the bar and sticking it in , over all, it plays and looks like a dream. I paid $1,499.00 no tax, ordered online from a place in Florida called lietz music, anyway, to see a demo of mine, check out YouTube and here's a Flickr link to my photostream of my Fender Japan Jaguar Thinline.

I gotta admit though, I was kinda worried about cutting into this fretboard, not only its a 15 hundred dollar guitar, it's the second time I paid that much for one and there are only 100 of these in sunburst available in the united states, and paying overseas shipping fees would cost way too much if I messed this up and had to buy one after all out of stock

Oh yeah, and for the last fret marker"dot inlay" at the the heel, in order to have just the 3 block inlays towards the heel, I actually carved out the dot inlay and replaced a squarish area from fret to fret up and down with a chunk of fretboard I carved from the 1st fret area while making the block inlay and glued that piece of fretboard matching the grain and sanded it flush, now that marker is gone, except for the side dot under the neck binding,

Though this task was scary, wasnt anywhere nearly as tough as doing binding and blocks on previous finished necks I have done in the past, removing frets, binding the neck , block inlay, refret, finish, etc, this was a walk in the park pretty much, I wish all my jobs were this easy,

yeah man, it was definitely suspenceful , only 100 thats ONE HUNDRED Of these sunburst Jaguar Thinlines available in the United States, and if i were to screw this up, i don't know if i would be lucky enough to get my hands on another one, especially dishing out another $1,500,
i think i need to eat this month, and wouldn't be able to getting another jag thin line, loll

I NOTICIED THAT THERE IS NO DATE ANYWHERE ON THIS GUITAR, the only way to tell is by the serial number, but if that was ever taken off, there would be no way of knowing what year it was made, i mean we all know its the 50th year of the Jaguar and would figure it out, but still, its just odd,

plus one thing i didn't like about the deal was that i didn't get any paper work, article of paper with the guitar, certificate, guitar candy of any kind, NOTHING, just an inspection tag hanging off the tuners, with the amount of money i paid for this guitar, and the fact that its a 50th year of the jaguar and a special edition , limited edition, AND NO PAPER WORK OFF ANYKIND, NOTHING, JUST AN INSPECTION TAG??????????????

i see cheap mexican fenders come with all types of guitar candy,

even look at the signature models, coming with books about the guitars and videos, american, candy, but FENDER JAPAN, MY FAVORITE FENDER GUITars and whats going on Japan,

i was looking forward to getting all types of stuff with this guitar, even other FEDNER JAPAN guitars come with "GIG BAGS" and straps, i didn't even get a GIG BAG, i have a nice fender japan gig bag already from my last jaguar and it fits this thin line, but for the money, couldn't i of gotten a case with this guitar,

i don't know, i love fender, i just wish i could've gotten some type of paper work , anything with this guitar, i just got an inspection tag

i am going to install the "Fender Mute"., on this guitar, it has the hole for it on the pick guard, and I'm pretty sure its solid enough under that area for the drill, and plunger to be installed, just gonna check with another tech before i go threw with it

these are the tuners I'm using right now, the duosonic/mustang kluson vintage style tuners, the stock tuners were awesome, they stayed in tune so good, but i like this look with the white plastic top buttons, they go good with the bindings and block inlay, although i must admit, these don't stay in tune very well so i am probably going to upgrade to the fender '65' mustang tuners bat winged beige plastic top tuners, they are really good for staying in tune, had them before,

the action on this guitar is amazing,, the strings are really low , close to the fret board , and don't buzz like some jags, very good action,
Image

the term system is outstanding, i honestly never had a better term system on a jag or jazzmaster, its almost as if the upgraded it or fixed it to make the term bar stay put where ever you position it, and the term lock button works exactly how it should, you simply just push the button down, back, and than you can't lift the term bar, only goes down, than push the button back up, and term bar goes up and down, they really fixed the tremelo on there guitars or i got lucky with a perfectly functioning tremelo system

and the finish is superb, i can't say enough about it

Image

i think this 'f' hole really gives it a twangier sound, brighter and a little more reverb sustain

Great guitar ,and respect for that block job .When I got my fairly high end Fender Japan Telecaster Thinline TN-SPL. It came with that cheapish gigbag and a sheet in Japanese telling you the pickup selector options .Odd as the Japanese love paper, super packaging and such ephemera usually.I did get a red headstock shaped neck tag with my Aerodyne tele an while back .I really fancy that Jaguar Thinline even if has mere dots . :D

YeaH totally about fancying the jag thinline even with dots, I love both necks, "Bound and dotted, and bound and blocked, sometimes I think mauve I liked this guitar better with the dot inlay and sometimes better block inlay, but I guess I'm stuck now right, I love my guitar now but again, if I didn't have the capability of doing this work to it, I would've loved it just as much with the dot inlay , either way it's a great guitar

Hi,

You indeed did a great job with this beautiful Jaguar!

I was wondering how the Mute-job went.
This because I also want to install a mue on my Thinline.
It seems there is enough wood for this.

Cheers,

Ray
