It's a Fender Music Master F-series with the serial number 623491. Can anyone tell me the year and worth of it.

How about some photos?

I'm assuming it has the serial number on the neck plate and the plate has the large "modern" F-logo on it. If so, that would put it in the 1975-1976 range (from just before Fender switched to having the serial number on the headstock and using the letter + digit serial number format).

Pricing - not really sure; there aren't many of these on gbase.com right now (3 guitars and 3 basses ranging in age from 1973 to 1979) and although they all appear to be in the same condition the prices range from $575 to $1,195. I will say that the 1973 and a 1979 are both $1,195.

Okay - good news and bad news.

Good news first - the headstock, tuners, metal control plate, and serial number on the neck plate with the "F" on it date it to the early-mid 1970s (1974-1976). After 1976 or so they started putting the serial number on the headstock and stopped using the metal control plate and started using an all-plastic pickguard (that included the control plate).

Now the bad news - it has been modded with the humbucker bridge pickup added. I think neck pickup might be original but with the plastic cover removed (covers on these models did not have exposed pole pieces - but it is possible that it also is a replacement pickup. Music Masters from the factory only have the one single coil pickup in the neck position like this pretty pristine 1973 I found on gbase:

It might also be a refin - I'm not sure if lake placid blue was still available at this point in time.

Musicmasters produced after circa 1977/78 had "Bronco" styling and hardware.
