Newbie here, just bought a cheap guitar and there was no history provided.
I realize this is not an expensive guitar, just trying to figure out what this is.

The headstock says Fender Stratocaster, with synchronized tremolo and has the #'s
DES 164,277 Pat 2,573,254 2,784,631.
Will post pics when i figure out how.
Thanks for your help,
Rick

We'll definitely need some photos.

To post them here you will need to upload the photos to a hosting site like photobucket, flickr, etc. Then just post the link that has the IMG tags around it (the "IMG" will be inside of square brackets like these [ ] ).

I was able to view your pics with a bit of copy and pasting.

Looks like it's been repainted and I don't see any markings that indicate country of origin.

My thoughts are either;

a) Refinished Fender Japan Strat with MIJ or CIJ decal removed.
b) Fake POS Impostercaster

I'm sure an expert will chime in soon enough.

Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner.

It looks like a parts guitar/fake to me - the body contours and the headstock are off so I don't think it comes from MIJ/CIJ Fender or MIK Squire stock.

It has a replica Fender headstock decal; the numbers are supposed to represent patent numbers on the trem and other components of the Strat. Of course those numbers would only be on Strats from the 1950s or 1960s (they were removed when CBS/Fender went to the large black headstock decals in 1968) which means that decal should not be found on a neck that has a headstock truss rod adjustment and 22 frets.

Thanks for the info guys. I got very little in this so I am not out much. The hardshell case might have been the real value in the deal.
Thanks again
Rick

The headstock and body are totally the wrong shape, so not a Fender or even a Squier.
