Fender has released some great guitars over the years such as the Telecaster, Stratocaster, Jaguar, Mustang and Mustang. What about the other models Fender has produced? Fender has also put out many other models, such as, but not limited to, the Coronado, Cyclone and the Esquire. These were great models(IMO), however they were not as popular as their counterparts; they need some time to shine. Which leads us to the question.......... What is your favorite Fender Minor Model! I'll start. My favorite is tied between the Esquire and the Showmaster :D

The cyclone was really cool, but I really dig the Squier Super Sonic from the vista series. I still kick myself for buying a duo sonic over a super sonic!

Not sure I could call an Esquire a minor model, but since you went there...The Esquire for sure. Next on that list would have to be a Jazzmaster...I used one for slide and it had a nice tone for that kind of playing...just wish I was better at slide!

I myself vote for the Fender Musicmasters. These used to be the most affordable, entry level Fenders....but had excellent build quality and used good woods! Even up until the end of the Musicmaster, Fender used real solid woods for the bodies, and the necks were the same as found on Mustangs :D When Fender discontinued them in the early 1980's, they replaced them with the Bullet. This guitar used a Telecaster neck, but a crappy plywood body. Seriously folks......go snatch up a Musicmaster!

cyclone for sure, though it's always struck me as a mustang variant. a sort of intermediate between mustang and strat, in features AND size. in the best way, of course :P

i had the super-sonic for a while, but what a hard guitar to live with... hard to put in decent pickups cause of the way the pickguard was cut (and the stock pickups had almost zero dimension to their sound), the tuning pegs being "upside down" made tuning on-the-fly tricky to get used to unless it was your sole guitar, and the reverse offset body made sitting or reaching the top frets feats of their own.
still, what a looker! when it got broken, i kept as many pieces as i could, so it lives on: the lower bout electronics routing where the volume and tone pots were serves as my pick-jar. not something you'll run into in many studios at all :P

Scratch that! After doing some research, the Cyclone beats the Showmaster as my fave, hands down!

Well, "research" is one thing...

... but hands-on experience is something else.

Of course, Fender has re-released the Cyclone and you can get it Squier mode, too, now.

Yes I know  I would love to play one! However, I only have like one music store near me and thats about 40 minutes away from home! They have a large selection, but I doubt they would have a Squier Cyclone. Oh well. My day will come.

I recall some years ago (maybe 20) that I was at a party in Sheffield UK and the guy whose home it was pulled out a red Fender Bullet with an anodised pickguard. The guitar was a wreck with rusted strings. I almost begged him to sell it but he would not do so. I have never seen another like it
