Another forum member and I realized that all of the Marauders that have the word Marauder on the headstock are black. All the LPB models that I've seen had the plain Fender headstock. Could it be that for some reason the black Marauders have the name while the blue ones don't have it? And why would they do this?

I got an email from Fender today about the Marauder. Here is the email I received:

Hello bugo,
Thank you for contacting Consumer Relations. The Marauder has been very popular and is a normal production model and not a special edition. Fender does not disclose the production numbers of our instruments unless, of course, the guitar is specifically a limited number run guitar. Also, it is not supposed to say "Marauder" on the headstock and will just be the Fender logo.
I have here the information for our system based on your serial number, I hope this helps you out.

Material 024-1400-502
Serial number CGF110xxxx
Description MOD PLYR MARAUDER RW LPB
Production 09/28/2011

I guess "024-1400-502" means "Koto" in Fender-speak. And now I have a birth date for my guitar.

haha there isnt a logo on the black ive looked at loads, there isnt a logo as the guy says but just the fender. A cool 70s style logo saying marauder would be cool like on the mustang. Im stuck right now. Im either going to buy a LPB Marauder or Telecaster FSR copperburst. I dont know

It shows a black Marauder with the name on the headstock. It also has the ® symbol after both Fender and Marauder. I also found this ad in an American Music Supply catalog. It doesn't have the ® after the Marauder name. The mystery thickens...

Guy might've just had it added on after he bought it. Either that, or an "error" in the production phase.

The picture I posted is an advertisement, not a picture of somebody's personal guitar.

If it's an ad, this is probably an earlier model, then they -- for whatever reason -- decided not to put the "MARAUDER" text on the headstock for the final models.
