Ok boys, I bought this Jazzmaster body off ebay. I got a pretty good deal on it. From the pictures, the routing looks correct, I believe I can see the fullerplast technique was used, it looks like its been resprayed twice, once red, then black, and what I want to know is what type of neck do I need?? A short scale or long scale?? And if anyone speaks electronics, what shielding do I need?

howdy there, congrats on the body. You need a long (25.25" strat) scale neck for this one. As for electronics, seymour duncan makes a nice JM pup. Shielding isn't really needed unless you want it.

Shielding is required, which is why Leo designed a set of brass liners for the pickup routs and control cavities.

These are available from Angela Instruments.

I really, don not recomend Angela ot anyone. Their service is HORRIBLE! How does the sielding work? And is it something similar to a 57' duo sonic? I have one of those too, does that need shielding? Their is no ground for it.

This thread may prove to be very helpful for me guys. I just wired a 57 duo sonic to mirror image a Jagstangs wiring/functionality. My problem is that the neck pickup wont work in one of the "on" positions. The other seems to work just fine, but my ears cant pickup a huge difference like it does on the Jag. My question now is, would the shielding that is not their, be part of the problem for the switch not working? I included some photos that I drew up, so that you can have the idea of what I'm looking at.

I even tried to take the wire, witch is the "black" wire running to the neck pups switch, and lightly put it on all other terminals.. Nothing.. I have another thread on here talking about how using an 8 terminal slide switch would be different from an 6 terminal toggle. I had answers from people saying it should work fine.. I tried it, but it doesn't work 100%

Arjay, not to doubt your extensive knowledge, but JM does not have those shielding tubs in her, and sounds just fine. She does, however, have the foil on the underside of the pickguard. Is that going to work in the same manner as the "tubs"? Also, would you suggest the copper shielding tape in place of the tubs?
