manufactured for Fender by FujiGen in the Hirooka Factory, although I don't see the resemblance to the wafer thin Sabres, maybe the newer S Series.

*** Per the below excerpt from the text of a paper handed out to dealers and wholesalers of Heartfield guitars, probably around 1992/1993 (another part of of the paper mentions Mike Keneally out on tour with Dweezil Zappa, which happened in 1992/1993).

The full paper (including instrument roster, endorsements and list of "us vs. them" comparisons) can be viewed by clicking here. Another press release can be seen at http://www.heartfield-central.com/data/press.pdf (Adobe PDF reader/plugin required for both).

“The Elan Series represents the finest of the guitar building art, with top of the line instruments for the sophisticated guitarist".

"US vs. THEM"

Heartfield Series: Elan

Models Compared: Elan II vs. PRS Custom

and it looks very nice. Unfortunately, I won't be plugging it in for the first time until midnight/the wee hours of tomorrow morning after I get back from the Jimi Hendrix Tribute Concert!!!

EXPERIENCE HENDRIX TRIBUTE TOUR
When: Friday, March 30, 2012 - 8:00 PM
(Doors open 7:00 PM)

The 2012 edition of the critically acclaimed Experience Hendrix concert tour, will launch with a three week run of dates starting March 6th featuring an all-star lineup of musical greats paying homage to the abiding genius of Jimi Hendrix.

Presented by Fender Musical Instruments, this year's tour will include performances by Billy Cox, Robert Randolph, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Dweezil Zappa, Taj Mahal, Eric Johnson, Brad Whitford of Aerosmith, Slide Brothers, Chris Layton of Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, and Mato of Indigenous, as well as other special guests to be announced.

The announcement coincides with latest issue of Rolling Stone wherein Jimi Hendrix was, predictably, designated "The Greatest Guitarist of All Time." The tour will alight in twenty markets including Baltimore, Nashville, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, Houston, Austin, Colorado Springs and more.
