All,

I've had a Fender Marauder (Modern Player series) on order for the past couple of months in the lake placid blue color. Most of the major guitar retailers indicate on their websites that these guitars will not be available until the latter part of March 2012. Does anyone know why it is taking so long for these guitars to come in at most guitar stores? I know a couple of my local GCs have one in stock each in the black color, so it seems as though the lake placid blue color is a major commodity right now. I'm just wondering if there is some sort of production issue at Fender's China factory. If anyone knows, please chime in. I know some other folks who are wondering as well. Thanks!

I've been waiting for my Lake Placid Blue Modern Marauder since I placed the order late December. It was supposed to be delivered in January, then February, and that changed to March 20th. I checked out the store site today and now it says March 27th. What is the problem with delivery of this guitar? I wish someone could answer the question.

NYStan,

Thanks for chiming in on this topic. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one waiting for this guitar, although I'm sorry you have to wait, too. Apparently, mine should arrive early next week, but I'm not holding my breath at this point. I'm also surprised thay no one has chimed in on this issue. I can't imagine that other folks don't want this guitar. From what people who have this guitar have told me, it's worth the wait -- especially in the LPB color.

F is notorious for pushing out dates. I ordered my 50th Anni Jag late Dec early Jan. Was supposed to be in Feb, then pushed out to April. Not sure when it'll actually arrive. Waiting sucks when you have a target date. It's way worse when you have no idea.

So, I just checked some online guitar retailers, and it looks like the dates to receive a new shipment of the Marauders has been pushed back again by all of them. One store is now reporting that they won't get a new shipment in until next month. The store where I have mine on order now indicates that there is a "long wait" to receive this item, although I was supposed to get it early next week. I'd really like to know what the hold up is with these guitars. If anyone has the inside scoop on this, I'd love to know.

^^^I couldn't agree with you more!^^^

I checked yesterday and it said delivery date for the 28th, checked again today it now says the 30th of this month. I can't believe the delivery date has constantly changed since January of this year yet Fender never gives any reason for the delay. That's very poor customer service. I've bought Ibanez and ESP guitars and never had to wait. This is my first Fender and I really want it but my patience is running thin.

My patience is also running thin, as the Marauder was going to be a birthday present to myself last month. On that note, I received a phone call from the salesman that I ordered the Marauder from. His company (which will remain anonymous) was supposed to get a shipment of these guitars in today; however, it has been delayed (again) until next Thursday. I'm keeping my order open, though, as I'm hoping the long wait will be worth it. I agree that it would be nice if Fender would provide an announcement on its website to customers who have been affected by shipment delays. Hang in there, and I'll try to do the same!

My wife placed the order for this guitar a week before Christmas as a gift for the holiday of which it was supposed to be delivered after the first week of January.

I checked again today and my store now doesn't even have a posted delivery date, I've seen on another site a date for the middle of April. Maybe I will finally get it on my 25th wedding anniversary in June. I really can't believe i haven't just said screw it and buy something else instead. Not sure how much longer I will wait.

It's strange the Black Marauders are in but the Lake Placid Blue still have no delivery date. The suspense is killing me.

NYStan,

I've been thinking the same thing. Most of the guitar stores in my area have the black Marauders in stock, but I prefer the lake placid blue color. Apparently, Sweetwater will be sending me the guitar either this Saturday or NLT next Monday. Hopefully, that will happen. I think this is just a case of supply and demand.

Have any of you gotten your Marauders? What are your opinions on them?

^^^ Got mine!!! ^^^

First of all I have to say the LPB color looks amazing on this guitar. IMO this guitar is worth more than the $399 it is selling for. Now I've only had my guitar a few days now so these are my opinions so far.

I play a variety of different music, some surf songs, Pink Floyd, Alice In Chains and Jimi Hendrix and the Marauder sounds great while playing them all. I have to get used to the whammy bar as it feels tighter than other guitars. Wondering if any of you feel the same about it and if so what will you do to improve it?

All in all this guitar was well worth waiting for and I do see another Fender guitar in my future.

I got mine as well a couple of weeks ago in LPB. So far it has lived up to all of the great reviews. It's definitely not a bad guitar for under $400.00. The finish is beautiful and I am very impressed with the craftsmanship. I also have a Squier Classic Vibe 50s telecaster that has the same build quality, so I am glad to see that Fender's folks in China are producing good quality, affordable guitars these days.

I can play almost all of my favorite kinds of music on the Marauder, and I like the versatility of the various pickup tones. My favorite pickup tone is the "humbucker," which is one of the things that sold me on this guitar. I like the thin neck on this guitar, which suits my small hands. I also like the silky-smooth playability of the rosewood fretboard, which was another big selling point for me. The guitar actually stays in tune every time I play it, and it was set up very nicely before it was shipped to me. The only negative thing about the guitar is that it does go out of tune a bit when I use the whammy bar. I have to use a lot of finesse with it if I don't want to retune a lot. It's a relatively minor issue, and I don't see it as a major downfall with this guitar. Overall, the Marauder was well worth the wait and will definitely always remain in my collection!

Here's a pic of mine. The bad lighting doesn't do the finish justice, but you get the general idea!
