Here's an earlier thread about the same subject:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=66819&p=805669&hilit=marauder+rare#p805669

Personally, I can easily see them being rare. Fender buyers seem to be conservative, and anything that isn't a Strat or a Tele is out of the question for a large majority of Fender buyers. Even their 3rd to 5th best selling guitars (Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Mustang) sell in much lower numbers than the top 2. Even if the Marauder isn't ultra-rare, it will never be as common as a Strat so at least you'll have a fairly unique guitar.

Here's mine:

The quality is superb. It is very close to the same quality if not the same as an American Fender. My brother likes mine better than my Japanese Tele. It feels a bit nicer than the Squier CV series, which is a very nice guitar in its own right. And it's very versatile. If you like a variety of sounds or want to play a guitar that isn't a "me too" Strat (don't crucify me, Strat fans. I have 5 Strats) or a Les Paul, take a look at this one. I give mine a 10/10.

Dave's Guitars has a real one (ultra rare prototype) They never were released to the public and very few exist.

In a couple of years they will be worth as much as a new house, I would buy two if I were you. :D

I'm sort of hoping they flop and are cleared out at $69 like the Squier '51 was. Then I would buy 4 or 5 and put them in cases and forget about them for a while. But on the other hand I hope they make them for a while in case mine breaks so I can buy a new one. From what I understand, they are very hard to find now. I got mine in a local music store (for $336, what a value!) that just happened to have one. Most of the online retailers are sold out. I think they must have made a small batch of 2011 models then there was a gap in production for some reason. The guy who works there said that several guys came in after I bought it asking about it. So there is definitely a buzz about it. It's a great guitar and if you want something different, you should check it out. It's very comfortable to play, has a great neck, the quality approaches American Standard levels, and the pickups are very versatile. The triplebucker is nasty in 2 and 3 coil mode, punchy in single coil mode (you can get a great Billy Corgan-esque tone using the triplebucker in single coil mode) and the Jazzmaster pickup is smooth as silk, especially with the tone rolled off. There's really nothing I don't like about the guitar. If I could change two things, I would change the switching so you can have all 3 coils of the triplebucker on at the same time as the Jazzy neck pickup. I'd also like to be able to have toggle switches for all 3 coils of the triplebucker, so I could mix and match pickup configurations. The other thing I would change is to give it two tone knobs, one for each pickup, Or I'd be happy if the tone only worked on the neck pickup, because I rarely turn the tone down on the bridge.

And the triplebucker in single coil mode doesn't sound like the middle pickup on a Strat, it sounds more like the bridge pickup on a Strat or a Tele.

Does anybody know if the neck pickup is really a Jazzmaster pickup or if it's a P90? I know the J Mascis Jazzmaster has P90s in it. What about the Marauder?

I give this guitar a 10/10. My brother likes it better than my mid-'80s Japanese '52/'50s Classic Tele, and he LOVES that guitar. Everyone should at least go out and play it, and bring it home if you like it.

The Marauder does hum in every position except for the triplebucker in humbucker mode. I guess an odd number of coils is going to hum. So if you get one, invest in a silencer pedal. The frets are jumbo, which I thought I would have to get used to after my Strat and Tele with vintage frets, but the adjustment period was nonexistent.

I have a closeup of my Marauder's body as my Facebook profile picture. I have gotten several compliments on how beautiful it is. Give this guitar a chance. At first, I hated the MP series because I'm a traditionalist, but the more I looked at the Marauder, the more I liked it. Then I played it and fell in love.

I neglected to mention the sustain on this beast. When I hit a chord and let it decay, it takes twice as long for it to fade out than it does on my Strats and Tele. I use a multieffects processor with a silencer and with the Marauder, the silencer doesn't kick in for 20 seconds or so, as opposed to 7-10 seconds on my other guitars. This is both in triplebucker and humbucker modes. I haven't tried fading out on the Jazzmaster pickup, but I expect the sustain is similar. BTW the Jazzmaster pickup is LOUD. It's easily as loud as the triplebucker. There's no drop off on this baby.
