Hey, folks! Thanks for helping me out, in advance. It's great to be here!

Now, I've got a basic starter Fender Acoustic guitar that I have been playing for a few years. However, something I've noticed is that playing certain bar chords have never sounded quite right. Whilst playing "E major fingering" (I hope that makes sense) bar chords up the neck sounds alright, "A major fingering" chords sound sharp on the B string. Is this is normal thing?

I'm certain the guitar is tuned (I'm using a Snark tuner, and further small adjustment by ear, sometimes) and I'm pretty sure I'm not bending any strings. Any thoughts?

Thanks a ton! I appreciate it.

What string gauge are you using? I swapped out a set with a wound G for a set with a plain G string one time (lighter gauge obviously), and it caused all sorts of intonation issues to the point I just decided to swap back. If that sounds like your problem, it is easy to fix :D now.....if it is not your problem, check your intonation anyway (when in tune the fretted note at the 12th fret should read the same on a tuner as the open note itself) If it is way off, you will need to have a compensated saddle made and installed. Something else to look for would be either too much relief in the neck (forward bow) or too high of a string height. Either of these will cause you to fret sharp because the distance you have to press the string to contact the fret stretches and tightens the string pulling it out of tune. If the guitar sounds fine up the neck, but out of tune near the nut, your nut is too high and needs to be lowered :) Good luck!!!!
