Just recieved an AVRI Jaguar in the mail. A bit of a dumb question... but the tone control is behaving more like a volume control. Is this normal? I have it all the way down and no sound is produced.

and.. no I don't have the two roller mixed up either.

Just curious about what's actually going on inside with all the electronics really.

Cheers!

I have to say, some of the new configurations for the original jag control bundle defy rational (and convenient) functionality. You have to look at what you want and what is convenient.

I like the classic player HH which uses the upper pots as blenders of single/double coil with on/off selection on the lower left panel. But the original jag had single coil pups so that isn't even an option for models so equipped.

I think if you have a re-issue jag and don't like the as shipped control bundle, you can look at any of a number of wiring and control options. Decide on one, and a competent technician can do a rewire at reasonable costs (or just buby the jag that has controls that make sense to you in the first place).

And a note to fender, many players might like the jag because of the scale or neck or other form factor. You might consider that you don't have to come up with some bizarre use for every switch and pot on the original release.
