So, today I am out with my son (14 yo tomorrow) and after lunch, we stop by the local Guitar Center . I needed new strings. And, I buy some after carefully perusing their guitar inventory.

Now, he is not really into playing but he does appreciate the beauty and "cool factor" of a well made guitar. He also know that money does not grow on trees. As we are nearing the front door, he says "Do they own those guitars?" as he motions to a small grouping of guitars. I say "Of course they do."

About this time, I notice the Kurt Cobain Jaguar ($1,299.99) at the front of the small group. He says, "Are they tired of them?" I say, "No, those are all brand new guitars." And he says, "But that one is all 'Dented'!" That's when I lost it and started laughing.
Then explained about Kurt Cobain, SRV, and others. And I explain that they sell very well. He didn't seem to believe me.

Now, Me? I'm with him. I like my guitars shiny and let me be the one to put the dings and nicks in them so that I can have a memory to go with each one (including the artist series.) But apparently, I am the exception. Fender seems to make a pretty good buck on these Relics and Road Worns.

As I said, even an artist series guitar. Include the special mods, but not the dirt and dings and cigarette burns.

What about you?

Art,

I know the search engine here isn't the greatest so I won't even refer you to it. Having said that, your topic has been covered in depth several times here where the bottom line is essentially, some love it, some hate it and some are ambivalent. This is why no one has commented on it.

Martian,
I really wasn't worried about comments. It just struck me when he said "But it's....Dented."
Yeah, I know. Some people love 'em.
