Hey guys I received this Mustang for Christmas last year and was overjoyed. However, I've noticed that the stripe on the guitar is not Sonic Blue like on the other Competition Blue Mustangs. Some might say that it is a stripe on the guitar, but with closer observation and by touch there is no indication of repainting or sticker(age). It plays beautifully and is free from any/all dents, scratches, anything. It is Crafted in Japan with serial #: Q 094707

Its legit, its from a special run done by Fender Japan a few years back. I have seen a few examples of this color stripe on Competition Blue both in person and online.

There are at least three different shades that Fender does for Competition Blue - Lake Placid Blue (yours) , Old Lake Placid Blue and Ocean Turquiose. The Competition Mustangs imported by Fender US during 2002 were a darker shade, more Jewel blue. Most often have Sonic Blue stripes or sometimes white or cream like yours.

I went to Fenders japan website and they still have your color available. Oh how I wish I could get the orange one W/racing stripe. I mean I'm sure through the right channels I could, but howa bout Fender giving the US a chance at 'em? :D
