How similar do these pickups sound to each other? I've never A/Bed them on the same amp.

The JM has a rounded, smooth kind of sound whereas the P-90 has much better presence and a bit of bite.

The P-90 on the Marauder is one of the better stock neck pickups I have heard. I am loving my Marauder. Kudos Fender 8)

I'm putting half down on a LPB Marauder on Friday. I've been in the store several times to play it. It's going to be a really cool guitar.

In this opinion, the Jazzmaster pup is smoother (more sophisticated?) than the P-90, though both are outstanding, timeless pickups.

Again in this opinion, should you wish to see how far a single coil design can go...

...play a real Mosrite with the big "Mosrite Of California" pickups.

I got my Marauder on Friday. What a great guitar. Plays great, sounds great, fit and finish is great. The triplebucker is nasty and fat while the Jazzmaster pickup is smooth and punchy. It even sounds good unplugged. I highly recommend this guitar. The quality isn't that far from an American Fender. The Chinese have caught up.

You said that the Marauder has a P90. Has this been confirmed? The pickup is advertised as a Jazzmaster pickup. I have read that the J Mascis Squier Jazzmaster has P90s in it.

Yeah I thought the Marauder had a JM neck pickup. I'm sure I vaguely remember seeing it described in a NAMM demo of it somewhere.
