The competetion mustang is totally wrong.

here is kurts:

Here is a 'non cobain' mustang on the fender japan site (1973 model): Also available in a darker blue... (and available to buy brand new!)

and here is the cobain model:

The 1973 'non cobain' model is closer to the comp stang he used than the official comp cobain 'reissue'. Silly fender!

Still lovin mine! The JB pickup has me thinkin about putting one in my jag special. Of course it would look kinda funny with one chrome and one black pickup.

It is a lovely guitar. My favourite ive ever owned. I like it so much im thinking about buying another! Im developing a mustang addiction. Maybe take a pic of your guitar and photo shop in a black humbucker - see how it looks.

I like the DiMarzio Super Distrotion pickup that is used in Kurts jag more than the SD JB-4. still not bad. I think Fender should only have made the Fiesta Red Mustang and the Sonic Blue Mustang.

Roger that on the one black one chrome. Still loving the Mustang. Hoping that the record will get here soon. I think it would be a pretty cool accessory for my kids whichever one gets this guitar.

Have they said any more about the record and when it will be sent? Do we just register in the standard way, as we do for other guitar models (via your profile)? Or ar they doing it differently? Its said 'more info soon' for ages!

I registered mine via the Fender info page for the guitar. I did not get a confirmation email so I hope it got through. I did it the first day the registration became active so I should be getting the record.

Still no record anyone have any info as to when they will ship out? Upgraded my Jag with a duncan custom custom and 500k pots. Now I am wondering what kind of pots the Mustang has. The 1Meg pots were tiny, I can see some of that being the higher resistance value but they still seemed pretty cheap compaired to the CTS pots. Anyone know the resistance value of the Japanese Mustang pots Vs american?

haven't looked at the mustang. My Classic Player Jag has regular sized CTS pots (1meg) for the Lead circuit and mini pots 1meg & 50k(normal) on the upper horn(rhythm).

Haven't taken apart my CS Jag but I am sure that uses mini pots on the upper arm as well.

Hows the tuning stability of this baby compared to regular mustangs? I presume Kurt modified it for just that reason. These may be the best stock mustangs ever, no?

Tuning seems to be pretty stable. I have not had any issues. I think it is a pretty good value if you are already looking a getting a MIJ Mustang new and want a humbucker in the bridge. I definatly prefer this guitar to the Jagstang that I had years ago. The stock pickups in the Jagstang were pretty weak and it had the traditional Mustang bridge not the adjust o matic like Cobain had (much more stable). Cobain himself was noted to be disatisfied with how the Jagstang turned out. Obviously if you are in the market for a used reissue Mustang it would be cheaper to modify than buying this one but that is the same for most things used.
