Well, it put a smile on my face when i saw it on the main page. Checked it out, and it's pretty cool to be fair. All i can say is, it's $400 less than the KC Jaguar and is a more fitting artist guitar, as the 'Competition' Mustang was by far his favourite.
Plus i bet it sounds pretty wild too.

The only problem is, it'll be exactly the same as the KC Jaguar, some will love it for what it is, some will get it as a fan, and the rest will hate it for being too expensive and pointless, or whatever. But i like it, and i'd buy one if it's as good as the Jag, cause i played one in a shop and liked it, alot, sounded good, played well and looked the part. That's another thing, the Mustang isn't relic'd so i think it'll be more popular amongst those who don't like the used look, which was a point brought up about the Jag. But, like i said if it plays as well as the Jag, then it'll be lovely, and the smaller size will make it more ergonomic for the smaller player who wants to get in on the action.

Let the arguments, begin!

I am a Nirvana fan. I own a Jagstang. I did not buy the Cobain Jaguar because it was way too expensive for an import!!!!! I will not buy the Mustang because it will be too dang expensive for an import guitar as well. It's a shame really. But you can buy SO much more guitar for $1200 ;) Love the guitars, both the jaguar and the mustang, but hate the rediculous price. $700 or $800 for these limited edition guitars would have been a lot more reasonable.

Yeah that was epic fail not putting a matching headstock on the competition mustang. IF they had, I would be buying one as I absolutely love that guitar!

I just ordered the Lake Placid Blue one. I have no problem with it not being exact. If you want a similar one you could just get the MG73/CO in LPB and just put a Hot Rail in it. Fender could also really nail it out and do a correct USA Version from the Custom Shop but that would be for the collectors who have 6-12K to spend on a Custom Shop guitar. Not cool IMO.

I did notice the Sonic Blue and Fiesta Red (some say his was actually Dakota Red) should have white switches but they seem pretty close.

For the price, I can't wait to get it.
