This has the "vintage" bridge or is it the mustang bridge. With cover, I would expect the vintage Jag/Jazz bridge.

Yes, it's the vintage bridge. I can see how it could become an issue in the future, but that's the only item I'm concerned with. The more I play this guitar, the more I love it!

I heard that Jaguars don't have much sustain, but apparently moving the stop bar closer to the bridge did exactly what Fender claimed and increased the sustain. I can't believe how this thing rings and sings!

Sorry for all the clichés, but that's how I really feel.

No, I appreciate the cliches. I've always loved the Jag. Doesn't have the punch of a Strat or Tele, but that is due to the 1meg volume and tone pots. Swap them out for 500k pots and Whoa! But then you loose some of what the Jag is known for.

So is buzz an issue with the bridge? Also, can you use the trem without it going WAAAAAAY out of tune?

And if the bridge IS an issue with buzzing and such, will a mustang bridge fit on this like any other Jaguar?

I have one order (Burgundy Mist Metallic 8) ), so I want to know if I should just order a Mustang bridge off the bat.

This has the 9 1/2 neck radius I believe. I know that Warmoth has a "modified mustang bridge" that should drop in. Also, from photos in earlier posts, (the shop photos on page 1) the body appears to be drilled for the often removed Jaguar mute. I suppose they may have go to such extremes to make it look like so many of the originals through the first 50 years where people pulled the mute off and tossed it in the case (or circular file.)

Waiting on my Lake Placid Blue to arrive.

hmm

If buzz become an issue, I'll look into a Warmoth bridge. Thanks! 8)

I've already assumed that string jump will be an issue as well as the fact that I hate the rocking bridge. I've ordered a Mastery for mine. 8)

(Bringing the dead back to life, it seems, given the last time someone contributed...)

Recently bought one of these beasts sight unseen; I was underwhelmed by the paint job (dull areas), the quality of the material used for the binding (binding on Epis looks rich in comparison) and the cheap-looking rosewood fretboard (comparing with my '62 AVRI Jag). One thumb-wheel made a grating noise (I slightly rerouted the wiring to make that noise disappear). And the nut was cut quite high.

On the positive side, the slightly flatter radius is nice, the neck is comfortable, gotta love those medium-jumbo frets, the pickups are OK (although, it's a bit strange they are the same pickups the Classic Player has).

Given the poetic licence taken by Fender on this guitar, one feature that would have made sense on it is to outfit it with the same screw-in trem arm that the Classic Player has (Classic Player again?).

But why, oh why, forego the whimsical mute completely? Given the price, and the savings resulting from the heavy borrowing from the MexiJag, no reason not to include it with the case candy. And why no Surf Green?
