Haven't had any issues with my Mexican or American Jags. Maybe it is unique to the JM Jag?

The paint is chipping on my white JM too. I did ding it on my belt buckle, although my shirt was un-tucked, but the chip is huge and in no way corresponds to the offence. I've never had an issue on a guitar before the Johnny Marr, which is otherwise fantastic in every way.

I'm sure there's a problem with the finish, but it's one of those impossible to prove issues and I doubt that Fender will act.

My girlfriend bought me the JM Jag for my birthday. Within two weeks I started noticing the paint started to chip and flake. I called Fender and they had me take it in to a certified Fender repair tech. He opened it up and noticed that were flakes of paint sitting in the case. The case was causing the guitar to flake?! With the amount of issues being reported I think it is safe to say the finish is flawed. Fender were generous and offered to replace it but I ended up trading it in for Gibson Les Paul. Disappointing considering the guitar is very good technically. JM needs to be made aware of this issue.

Hi, I bought a new Johnny Marr Jag a couple of weeks ago, and I've got one issue that is causing me slight concern, in that after I've been playing for 30 mins-1 hour, I end up with black marks on my fingers. I've already changed the strings over that it came with, so I can only presume these are coming from the finish of the fingerboard. I thought maybe it just needed a little time to 'settle in', but after a couple of weeks I am still getting black fingers. Did this happen to anyone else? Is my fingerboard going to end up light-coloured after a few months of this? Do I need to do something to stop this happening?
