Just finished this one in time for Christmas.
Thought I'd share and would love some input as this is my first full build.
I fabricated the neck, back plate, and control plate from scratch. Heavily modified a liscenced jmaster body, and painted this in my driveway.

thanks,,

Looks great! Is that sparkle or flake?

This one is flake. I'm having a hard time shooting photos that do it justice. Image

That's really cool, I like these unique kind of guitars, and it doesn't get much more unique than this.
Just want to know how you got the 'f' hole in the body?

There are 2 routes, no pun intended, to get the f-hole. At least, 2 routes I was weighing. The first is to drill 4 dozen holes strategically placed to get most of the wood out of the way then to hand file the rest to get it perfect. Then there's the easier way. I found a laser engraver near me that cut it for me. He was able to cut the outline about 1/2" deep then I had to go in and file out the rest to clean it up. does that make sense?

The G&L-inspired figured maple neck with the classy abalone dots is just the icing to the cake. :P

Thanks for that. I figure there's a huge debt we all owe to Leo so why not give him a creative nod

Your guitar looks pretty similar to a Grosh ElectraJet VT.

Chromeface,
That's pretty cool, I've never seen that guitar though. I was going after a telemaster based my main tele that has the 59 in the neck and a broadcaster in the bridge, which was based on Andy Summers' 61 telecaster. Aww man, now I've got the gretsch running through my head.. I'm resisting G.A.S. thanks man.

The AS has an on-board gain preamp.

Not sure if you've included that feature in your axe. :?

AS? not sure what that is but as for the telemaster custom thinline I built there is no preamp. just straight natural tone. I wasn't trying to copy anything else aside from the pickups I have in another one of my guitars on this build. I just felt that I would really dig a semi-hollow Jazzmaster and things kind of exploded from there into, for me, the new number 1.

Gotcha, "AS" It's all clear now, and reading over a previous response I mentioned having a "Gretsch" on the brain. nope I meant Grosh.
I've thought about an AS type of preamp/ effect on my basses but I've never really seriously entertained the idea of one in my guitars. I have a hard time committing to something by soldering it into my guitar. I attached a pic of the tele that I based off of Summers' 61 and which also inspire my telemaster.
