I've always loved the Jaguar, and with the new Jaguar Special addressing the flaws of the original design, the best just got better!! I hope this model sticks around long enough for me to save up enough cash to scoop one up!

The Stratocaster - You can play virtually any genre of music on it. It's both beautiful and functional, in fact, it's on display at the Museum of Modern Art. Maybe the most remarkable thing about the Strat is how little it has really changed over 50+ years. It's been tweaked, but never redesigned. As many people say, Leo got it right the first time.

He wanted the Jazzmaster to be the top of the line. As brilliant an inventor as Leo was I don't understand why he put that guitar into production with that buzzy bridge. It never had a chance to displace the Strat.

I'd have to say the Stratocaster. For mainly its rich, flexible tone. I mean, you can go from pop-rock to metal with no problem.

I don't mean to bash other models (and I'm not), but the Telecaster can't really handle metal so well from what I understand, and the Jaguar is somewhat twangy unless you replace the pups. As for the Tornado, I have yet to experiment.

But however, its all a matter of opinion. Some people may disagree with me and I'm fine with that.

The Stratocaster. And if I may add a few words, I briefly owned a SG clone when I was nineteen but got rid of it and for thirty years after that I played on and off with a classical guitar all kind of styles but not with great success. Playing was more a kind of a therapy for me , a safety valve. At some point I felt I needed to give it another try, so a year ago I bought my Strat as my own 50th anniversary gift thinking that if I don't do it on this occasion I will never do it at all. So in the beginning of 2007 I sarted looking for what would be for me the dream guitar and most probably as I'm not a highly skilled player, a one shot deal. There is seven or eight dealers around here and I visited them all on many occasions and during that maturing/experimenting/trying and discovering process I was left, not on my appetite because it was obvious that I could'nt own more than one guitar, but it kind of grew into me (heart and mind) that it had to be a Light colored with a maple neck Fender Stratocaster. Then one july day I came across a silver 60th anniversary MIM Strat and that was the end of it. Sorry for the long post but I had to tell that story to understanding people.
P.S. Guess what, this year I'm looking for a Tele. Cheers Claude.

The best Fender guitar I've run my hands across was a Telecaster Deluxe. That thing is beautiful and plays... anything. I own a Strat though and am about to purchase the Jaguar HH. I really want to try that So Cal Speedshop strat.

I love my Telecaster and my Stratocaster equally...for different reasons. Barring starvation of the offspring, I will not get rid of either of those axes. They are my undoubtable favorites.

I've borrowed Jaguars and Jazzmasters as well as Mustangs (owned one of those) and Duo-sonics and Broncos, and even played somebody's Coronado II one night. I've jammed on the Toronados and even the short-lived Squier Venus (short-lived for a good reason!). All of them are cool in their own way.

However, one of the best (Leo) Fender-made guitars is the G&L Nighthawk--a Strat-style guitar that had cool looks and great tones from top to bottom! There were only about 250 of them made (some generic DC-area band threatened to sue the great LEO FENDER over the name so he re-christened it the Skyhawk...he should have told them, "I'm Leo Fender--why don't you kiss my butt," but he was too humble for that). The Skyhawk was an equally good guitar, but unfortunately is hard to find in any color other than Baby Blue.
Unfortunately I lost my jet-black Nighthawk to "dem ole mortgage payment blues" about twelve years ago. I still have my 1980 G&L F-100, but I miss my old "Gato Negro".

Would somebody hit me if I said a Starcaster? :D :D :D I wouldn't, but what if I did? It's a Strat for me, by the way. 8)

Hm, hard to say.....I love them all, yet, a good telecaster is simple.
Leo Fender´s instruments are so versatile it´s hard to say, it would be a picture finish but, yes, teles!
