Hi my name is mario,
I own a classic player jazzmaster, I got it last year. I've always noticed that when i strum the low E string, it sounds way louder than if I were to strum on the rest of the strings. Just until now, I'm wondering if I can do something to either make the other strings sound as loud as the E string, or lower the volume level of the E string down to the rest of the strings. I know the pickups have flathead screws in em.

Is there any way I can do something about this, what are the screws in the pickups for?
I would really appreciate if anyone got back to me about this, thanks.

The screws in your pickups are the adjustments for the individual pole pieces under each string. To "tame" your low E string, lower the screw under that string by a half turn on one or both of your pickups as needed. If the E string persists in "bullying", lower the screw by another half turn. All adjustments should be made incrementally and you should test the guitar every time you change something.

I have this guitar as well, and my pickup pole-piece screws all came positioned down as low as they go, so if you can't lower the E-string screw, you may instead have to raise all the other screws to even the volume.

Another thing to try is to slant the entire pickup away from your low E-string. The pickups each have four little screws near the four corners of the pickup, and each is used to raise or lower its corner. You can raise and lower the entire pickup, or you can slant it toward one side or the other. Just be careful to always use two hands on the screwdriver, or else you risk slipping and putting a ding or scratch in the guitar's finish.
