the biggest difference is the scale.... the 24th scale and 25.5 scale are a huge difference more than just the necks being different length... to compensate for the scale difference the bridge will be closer to the neck joint on a mustang/jag than on a jazzmaster.... hope that helps...... e.i. you cant put a 25.5 neck on a jag or mustang without moving the bridge position to accomodate scale and intonation.

Somebody told me that my Jagmaster was a cross between a Jazzmaster and Jaguar, ie Jazz body w/ Jag scale. But w/ both bodies being pretty much the same, it's more of a budget Jaguar I guess.

Yeah I guess the biggest difference on the Jagmaster would be the electronics configuration. The neck isn't quite as smooth. I like them though I think they are nice guitars.

There is information on here regarding the differences between a Jaguar and a Jazzmaster:

The Jazzmaster body is slightly larger and the trem/bridge sit further back on the body. There are obviously other differences like the pickups, the chrome plates, the scale length, etc.

The Jagmaster went from standard scale to shortscale or vice versa, i dont remember now. The vista models had the same bodys as the japanese Jaguars, same factory made.
The Jagmaster has a Stratocaster tremelo unit, two humbuckers and a Jazzmaster style toggle switch. Other than its body shape it bears no comparison to Jaguar or Jazzmaster.
