Does anybody else have this guitar? If so, what do you think the major differences are between this and the 'Stratocaster'?
Also, if I were to sell it, do you think it would cut the price drastically since it is not a very well known brand?
Discuss. :D

Since they're designed to be low end models, they won't have a lot of resale value--but if you hang onto it long enough--once it's "vintage"--who knows what it might go for?

It wouldn't be as much as a similar year Strat--but it might go up.

I have a low end model, but if you have the high end model It will sell for a lot. The cheaper one probably wouldn't right now.

i have to agree. if indeed it is actually a fender and not an asian knockoff. i buy and sell these starcaster necks and pickup assemblies on ebay all the time and have also built a few guitars 28 to be exact, resembling fender bodies, with starcaster necks and electrics. i used to play more than, build, them. the complete assemblies seem to work fairly well when set up right. you just have to be careful what you buy..... i read a blog earlier today about the things that get more important than the purchase of an amp to match your needs being less important than day to day needs as you get older. that's crock i'm 54 years old and i'm still looking for the right setup to come along. i had a peavey bass 400 watt amp. hooked to 4, 15" pyledrivers as a home amp. there was enuf thump to knock the pictures off the walls at home. and that was set at 3. i'd like to have another one but i'll suffice with my fender 40 watt with 8 inch speaker. crisp sound with lots of wail. keep looking for that setup your looking for and good luck, and get your starcaster authenticated by a reputable dealer

 You know, there is really no point in selling the starcaster. Ya, so what if everything about it stinks, if you sold it, you'd be lucky to get $20. Just go to a music store and have someone help you upgrade it.

better pickups, new strings, new tuners, and maybe even a pedal. This will cost you around $150.

More if you want to get some decent pickups, like EMGs or Seymour Duncan.

i have a starcaster also and thought about upgrading it. I called a local music and asked how much it would be to upgrade it. I thought a set of Lace Sensor Gold pickups, locking tuners, and a new bridge/tremolo would be a good set up and they said it would be like $500 dollars. I decided i would be better off buying a 1987- 1999 Strat Plus or just get one of those kits where u build a guitar.

I am assuming you are talking about the recent "Starcaster by Fender", not the original Starcaster....

I started on one. Not bad for a cheap guitar if you get lucky (the quality on them is uneven). Heck, mine even has a birds eye maple neck on it! Put some vintage noiseless pickups and some Schaller tuners on her and you have a nice guitar. Never be able to sell it for what you have put into it though.

I'm sorry for not being clear, I was referring back to the original poster, since we were talking about Starcasters..
