Hi,
I'd like to know what are the baritone guitars still available from the fender distribution (fender, squier, gretsch, etc.)
Thanks!

Hi jon.

I think that only Gretsch offers a baritone at the moment. The G5265.

I owned one, but sold it a while ago and got a used Fender jaguar baritone custom instead. MUCH better. The Gretsch sounded tiny compared to the Fender, and the bigsby on the Gretsch wasn't helping either. IMO tremolos aren't suited for baritones.

I would wait for a nice used Fender if i were you. (Not the Bass VI, it's got a tremolo too)

Danelectro also make several cheap but nice baritones if you want to try it out before you spend your life savings.

You also need to consider if you prefer playing in E, A og B-tuning. The E-tuning is like a bass with extra 2 high strings, but IMO it's a poor substitude for a real bass. I think baritones are best played in A-tuning. You need different strings for E or A tuning. I can recommend Ernie ball 2837 for E and 2839 for A-tuning. In A-tuning you can play the baritone like a guitar and play chords. In E it's more like a bass. Chords will sound very muddy.

Good luck.

I need to add the Fender Blacktop Baritone Tele that came out shortly after my previous answer. Haven't tried it, but it looks like a nice guitar at a reasonable price.
