Hello, I joined this forum nearly 4 years ago, and this is my first post. I got away from playing a couple of years ago (amateur level player), and decided to get back into it recently because I missed it...

I purchased a Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster Custom a few weeks ago, and I'm blown away with the guitar. I have owned a few Squiers before and they were all very good guitars, but this one is phenominal!! From the gorgeous looks, to the flawless build quality, and the sound, it is stunning. I don't know how they can sell this guitar so cheap...

I purchased a Vibro Champ XD to go with it based on previous experience with this amp. It has a very sweet tube tone and is the perfect little prctice amp for an apartment dweller like myself. I find that at lower levels late at night, it still sounds great...

I ordered a Pawnshop Mustang Special in Candy Apple Red yesterday, and it should be here tomorrow. I love dealing with ZZounds. They have great customer service, very fast (and free) shipping, no sales tax, and a great 4 payment plan. Sweet!!

Anyhow, it is great to be here...

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention something. I spotted this the other day, and it will be my next purchase:

What do you think, it should match the Red Mustang pretty good, huh? 8)

I haven't had a chance to play around too much with it yet because I work 3rd shift and had to get some sleep shortly after it arrived, but so far I am pleased with its' sound. With all the pickup switching possibilities the tonal variations are nearly endless.

Also, the build quality is excellent. I can't find a flaw anywhere in the finish, and the fretwork is perfect. The components seem to be of a high quality as well. The Japanese sure know how to build quality instruments!

In comparing the Mustang to my Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster Custom, I am that much more impressed with the Chinese built Tele. It is built and finished every bit as good at less than half the price of the Mustang. That is not a knock on the Mustang at all (though I do feel it is overpriced by $150-$200).

Update:

While the Mustang is a very nice guitar, after living with it for a few days I decided that I am strictly a one guitar man, the Telecaster! 8)

So I sent it back and ordered a Egnater Rebel 112X cabinet (will be here tomorrow) which I will use with my Vibro Champ XD until I get the Rebel 20 head.

Anyhow, anyone looking to purchase a Mustang Special may want to order the one I sent back to ZZounds. It is absolutely as new, and they are selling it for $649. Here's your chance to save $150:

Welcome to the forum Rick, you're right about those Squier Teles, they are outrageous,I can't understand how a guitar of such quality can be so cheap. The other day I came very very close to buying a mahogany body Squier Thinline Tele for just $279-it was stunningly beautiful. The reason I didn't buy it was because I'm saving up for a Rickenbacker 360/12 or 325or 350-either one with toaster pups.I'm still drawn to that little beauty though and I have more than enough money in my pig to buy it outright.Decisions Decisions.

Surprising that in the span of only a few days you went from loving it to returning it. Not being critical, I've done things like that myself. At one time I had 3 Musicmaster bass guitars but one of them got sold because I just "connect" with it even though it was basically the same as the others. Stuff happens.

Sure was a shiny beauty though 8)
