I have a couple of Fender Squier CIJ Venus XII that I love--I've been through a few different brands and this is what I like best. I've been itching to put SLIGHTLY different string gauges on the unison strings (B and high E); like instead of having both .009s for the high E, use a .008 AND a .010, or any similar variation, and doing something similar to the B strings. They'd still be in unison tuning and not octave tuning, but I wonder if this would cause any tonal difference-which IS what I'm looking for. Has anyone tried this?

The reason I haven't done this yet is because I'd probably have to find a dealer where I can buy single strings-or get two different packs of strings for one restringing (kind of wasteful). Intonation isn't a problem for me, the Venus XII is easily adjustable. Thanks!
