I recently bought a Jaguar Blacktop HH - got a cracking deal on a second hand, but completely pristine, black example.

Some might say it's not a 'real' Jaguar because it doesn't have the myriad of pots, switches, bells and whistles of the originals, or the slightly whacky trem system, but to me it's just right: simple, good sounding and very, very nice to play. With twin humbuckers it gives a really different sound to my Tele and Strats, but still has that Fender feel, which I like.

One thing I'm not keen on, though, is the amp style volume and tone knobs. It isn't so much the looks (though I'm not really that keen), but the sluggish response to a quick tweak with the little finger, which I do quite a lot while playing. The problem is that this style of knob has a relatively small diameter. I know the skirt's quite large, but the bit you turn isn't, so you really need to grab hold of it between thumb and finger to make it turn quickly.

The solution I've opted for is to fit the classic 'fluted' black Jaguar knobs (also as used on Jazzmasters and Jazz basses, amongst other things). They're a bit fatter so are much easier to turn on the tweak and I reckon they really make the guitar's looks complete - a definite improvement.
