8) I own 29 guitars, vintage USA Fender/Gibson/Epiphone Martin. collectors items, and Chinese/Indonesian/Mexican Fender, Ibanez, Epiphone.. I look for guitars all the time. NOBODY makes a BAD guitar anymore!! It's too easy to make good guitars. The state of the art has come light years since the '60s/'70s!!I had a guitar shop in the '70s, I'm 64. I've looked at Starcasters, and don't see much difference in the Squire Bullet strats, an' the StarCaster. If set up correctly, It'll play fine. get someone who Knows what they're Doin' to set it up.

Thanks Wildman? The star looks a lot like a squire except it has a double pickup then three singles, i have never seen a nother like it,except i have only seen a few  .I really have wondered about that, could they really be as bad as some people say? I also wonder how a guitar goes out of tune so easy if you have done everything right.I am clueless. thanks,Ray

Hi.
In fact Fender had a forum for starcasters on this site until recently. Unfortunatly they have removed it

The indonesian Starcasters are good guitars in my book. I also own quite a few different axes, Gibson, Fender, Squier etc. For a period I was kind of hooked on the starcasters with pointed headstocks. Really cool guitars for allmost nothing on ebay (Ended up with 6 of them  ). Usually went for 25-50 USD a couple of years ago, now I dont know. My son uses one of them and he plays hard. The guitar sounds and feels great and refuses to go out of tune. I have much more expensive guitars that behave worse than the starcasters. As mentioned, a proper setup is needed, as with any guitar regardless of price.
You can check out the wikipedia site for some more info: (hrrm, in fact, all the guitars in the pics are mine). I havent written most of the text though, just some minor editing.

Good luck with the playing.

Im not sure I know what you mean? Do you mean why you have three separate pickups? Well its to get different sounds depending on the pickups you choose with the pickup switch. For example, the neck pickup will produce a little warmer sound than the bridge pickup becuse of its position. As you probably have noticed, you can choose 5 different pickup configurations with the switch. The starcaster and most other strats usually has three single coils OR one humbucker (double) and two single coils. Some stratocasters may have just two humbuckers as well. It depends a little on what type of music you play.

Send a picture :( , I don't know of Any fender with H_S_S_S pick up configuration! That's 1 Humbucker in the bridge, and then 3 single coils. Lots o' H-S-S, tho'! 8)

Hi, I own a Starcaster and a Squier. The Starcaster comes with 2 single coil and a double, aka Humbucker, or HSS. Most other guitars come with 3 singles, or SSS pickup configuration. The main difference is that you can get a more powerful distorted sound with the humbucker than with the single coil pickup. It also has to do with what you intend to play, but overall you can play just about anything with your Starcaster. Cheers!

I see now that my local Guitar Center has started selling Starcasters in the store. I figure they must have started this for the Christmas selling season.
