Trying to modify a Jaguar I just bought. I love my Texas Specials in my Strat, but the Jag has dual stock humbuckers which lack definition, clarity, and some treble. Any suggestions for for pup upgrades... I play through a Super Champ with just a tad of distortion... blues mainly.

My son just added a TV Jones Supertron in the bridge position to a MIM Tele. It is the among the best dual-coil pickups I have ever heard. Bright, with lotsa punch. I have a couple on order - haven't decided which guitar is going to get them.

Some decent aftermarket humbuckers with coil-tap switches should accomplish your task.

I doubt you will find a humbucker that sounds exactly like a texas special for a few reasons. 1: the location of the pickups on a strat are way different than the location of the pickups on your guitar. 2: You will have to coil tap your new humbuckers, and even then, due to issue 1, your guitar won't sound like the strat. But that in no way means that your new guitar won't still sound KILLER! Just different, which is good for other things you might wanna play :D

NO humbuckers will sound like Texas Specials . Your best bet is a nice set from DiMarzio

Buy a custom pickguard and add single coils.
