I've been thinking about tuning one of my guitars in Nashville tuning (the high pitched half of a 12 string set) and it seems to me that it would sound better on a guitar with shorter scale instead of, for example, a strat with a 25,5'' scale length. I'm planning to use a jaguar with a 24'' scale length.

What is you experience with this? Does it make a difference if it is shorter scale or not?

D'addario makes a Nashville tuning set for electric guitar (EXL150L) with the string gauges 010 - 014 - 009 - 012 - 018 - w026. Any experience with these anyone?

Thanks :D

PS. Please excuse my english. I'm from Denmark

I'm not sure if anybody cares, but i'll answer the question myself now that i have tried the tuning.

1: I don't think that it makes a big difference if you play nashville tuning on a 24" or 25,5" scale length.

2: The D'addario strings are really nice to play and i can recommend everyone with a spare guitar to try putting on a set of nashville tuning strings. (You play it like a normally tuned guitar, so everyone can do it)

Good luck.

Maybe nobody has tried to know the difference between 24" or 25,5" scale length. Personally though, I find the tone largely unaffected by the scale length. I don't know, maybe it is just me.

I don't really hear a diffenrece in scale either. I just thought that a short scale would be better for the very light strings, but i could'nt tell the difference.

Case closed :-)
