Ok guys, so I bought this guitar off of eBay yesterday:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/270822940579?ss ... _695wt_955

and I wanted to know what you guys think? Is this truly a legitimate matching headstock reissue or a fake? I noticed that the stripes aren't light blue as were on the '69 Mustangs (I'm aware of the different years), but the reissued comp red Mustang had cream stripes as well...

Thanks Guys,

Joe

"crafted in japan" most likely a '97 RI. Recently they went back to "made in japan".

yeah they only started calling guitars "crafted" in '97 so it's not a '73.
Plus, according to the Fender book, the Competition ones were made only in 2002 to 2003, and Fender started making Japanese Mustangs in '86.
I'm guessing that the serial number is "Q" followed by 5 or 6 numbers, which is guitars "Crafted In Japan" between 2002 and 2004.
If it isn't then either i can't read or it's not a fake, but it looks damn good and is entirely believable.

Yea man, it's "Q" with 6 digits behind it. So I got a good deal?

Well I'm no expert but it seems to be a genuine reissue and so I suppose you payed about right, compared to what regular mustangs go for and even as a reissue I don't think there was too many, plus they are really nice.
So I guess it's a good deal, I'd be happy with it.
