Recd a new jag hh special, which I really like so far, but the factory set up on the trem was absolutely horrible, so heads up. As recd, factory pack, I could barely move the lock button and there was just a quarter semitone of dive and rise was locked. When I finally freed the lock, the trem bar sprang up and the pitch went up two semitones! And then, I could never get it locked again. The adjustment screw was apparently tightened to max, nearly to the point of stripping the screw head to turn it, so then I had dive only and the trem bar was a few inches up. After reviewing online sources, I understood I needed to relive spring tension, so it took several turns to loosen up the tension spring so that the floating position and lock were at about equilibrium. Yikes. Very surprised it shipped from the factory that way. If you've got a new jag or jm, you might want to make sure you understand how the trem setup should work. There's a good guide at http://www.webrocker.de/jaguar/cms/2007 ... lo-system/

Picked up a set of .011s, assuming the thing shipped with at least .010's. Shocked to see it was actually factory strung with .009s when I slapped my .000x micrometer on the removed string. Yikes. No wonder it would go out of tune every time I touched the 6th string. Look, Fender, this is a short scale guitar. .010's are already like .009s out of the box. I can't believe shipping .009s on this guitar is a good idea. The .010s are better; might still go with the .011s in order to play in tune. On this guitar, it's just not possible to play .009s in tune. I wonder how much the factory setup has to do with returns? I did a fair amount of research on this guitar before purchase and had to mail-order it because no regional dealer stocked it. Perhaps that's a good thing. Had it demo'd as rec'd, I might not have bought it. As shipped (to me at least) it's almost unplayable. But set up properly, it's really nice. Hope marketing knows what it's doing with fac setup as recd. The reality is that no authorized fender dealer within 250 miles had a sample of the model I wanted in stock.
