This may sound dumb, but what does the tremolo lock button do on a Jazzmaster? I am interested in the new Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster and I have read this does not have a lock button. What is the difference?

the tremolo lock button is used to help with tuning stability. slide the lock forward and your tremolo moves both directions freely. slide the lock button back, and the tremolo will only move down (dive action). This helps if you switch between tunings on your jazzmaster, or even, yikes, snap a string mid-song. Its is a great feature on the JM and JAG trems.
