So I'm looking to get the Kurt Cobain Jaguar. But I'm thinking about getting a lefty, and stringing it upside down. (I've been considering adding an upside down lefty to my rig for a while). I'm not too concerned about the knobs, as much as I am concerned about the cable input jack. Just wanted to see if anyone here has any upside down guitars, and what issues you've experienced?

I haven't done the "buy a lefty guitar and string it righty" thing yet (I've always toyed with getting say an MIM lefty Strat and doing a reverse Hendrix thing) but I would assume that you would be okay with a cord with a right-angle plug instead of a straight plug. I would just try a few different cables and find one where the length of the plug that sticks up out of the jack is low enough (or it's smooth enough) that it doesn't bother your picking arm.

Wouldn't look right. He only did it because he couldn't afford a lefty.

I have done this! (with a strat) You will have to take the nut out and have a new one properly cut and made for the right-handed stringing. Or you MAY get by with removing the stock nut and just flipping it around...but you will have binding and tuning issues more than likely if you go that route. Then you will have to set your intonation again, as it will be WAY off :) Then just buy a right angle cord and you will be ready to rock.....except for relocating the strap button :D

Thanks for the advice everyone. Steve-oh-no, I thought about the strap button situation too. I don't want to drill another hole to relocate the strap button. So I think I will replace one of the neck screws, with a longer one, and put a strap button there. As far as the intonation goes, I'll have it set up.

You will still have to flip the nut or better yet, have a new right hand nut cut for the guitar.

Haven't tried an upside down guitar yet but I think what John is advising here seems the right way to cord it up in a cable. Or look for a lefty that is corded up in the middle of the guitar, not on the lower left on a lefty guitar. Oh well, I really don't know what I'm saying here.

Its kinda stupid in my opinion and more expensive then buying a right handed version... and i mean the whole guitar standard with no mods or enything it will cost more.
