Post subject: fender pickup

hi guys,i just opened my 82 fender strat and i found the bridge pickup have a stamp code 016730 its black base but it measure 8.3k .is that a fender pickup x1 ?how can i tell?help.

That's pretty hot for a Strat pickup by contemporary standards. If the guitar is all original, I'm betting it's one of the "X-1" pickups developed for the "The Strat" model around 1980 or so.

thanks for the reply arjay,the thing is the base is not red like the one i saw before,its black with the code 016730, it might be an x1 as the bridge position scream when overdriven very punchy and loud almost like the pickup sound on fire,harmonics just jump out anywhere on the neck.it mustbe an x1 as the output is too high,not like the neck and middle,neck read 5.75k and the middle 5.6k.the solder joint was never touched so this must have been done at the factory.very weird.
