I recently bought a AV Jazzmaster. Its a wonderful guitar but every time I use the Trem it goes out of tune. The G string is the worst. It randomly goes sharp or flat. I'm using 11's on it and I thought they would be heavy enough.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Gazz

It's not a matter of string weight.... in fact, you might be experiencing tuning problems because you're using a heavier string!

When vibrato use causes tuning problems, 99 times out 100 it's because the string is getting caught in the nut: which means that you either have a nut that's not cut properly or you're using a string gauge that's too big for the nut as it was cut.

Try a set of 10's, or have the nut re-done to accommodate the 11's, and you'll be good to go.

Nice one Jim. I'll give the 10's a go and see if that works
