I have a Fender Performer. As you might imagine, it's tough to find parts for it - I am missing some of the locking nuts and some of the fine tuning knobs on the tremolo are stripped and don't work as well as they should.

Anyone know where I might look?

I appreciate any help you can provide...

Alas your quest might be hopeless
I do have 5 Performer ...

But to get any part is almost impossible.
I wrote to Fender Japan but as these were made only in 1986 they are not in a position to deliver any spare part.
The worst is the tremolo arm : easy to lost , hard to find.

You can eventually find some matching screws.

I was intrigued because I had never heard of that model. I don't have one, (I found this Pic on the web). But, zooming in I can tell you that the bridge and nut hardware looks very similar to the the stuff on my '85 MIJ Telecaster:

I thought about building another Tele similar to mine, so I went to Warmoth.com and browsed around. The closest bridge I could find on their site was a Schaller Floyd Rose. The top tuning knobs on the bridge are a dead giveaway. My Tele also has the hex screw locking nut mounted on the headstock.

Check out their page and you will see the trem and the nut .

This might help you get it back to playablilty, though it might not help much if you're trying to restore it to original, since I doubt the Fender logo won't be on the trem like the original. If the tuning screw holes are badly stripped, you might be able to drill and tap the next size up, assuming you can find thumbscrews to fit. Otherwise, you'll have to replace the trem.
Good luck!

I really couldn't tell you where to get any parts. I just wanted to say good luck in your search.

Yes, that is exactly what it looks like, except mine is kind of a mauve color.

I'll take a closer look at the Tele...

Thank you for the suggestions. Fortunately, the guitar is playable - just want it to be "all there".

Cheers,
Michael

Amen to that! Fix it up! From what I can tell, those Performers are fairly uncommon. I really like the look. Takedaily is restoring one. Look for his post. Be sure to keep us updated on your progress!

Good luck!

I have a 1986 Fender performer, it has a rare sunburst finish and a non factory bridge. I have the same problem of not being able to find any parts for it, its missing some locking nuts as well. From my experience its is pretty much impossible to find any parts for it being so rare and ive just left my locking nuts loose. But if someone has an idea of the price range of a fender performer i would appreciate it, Mine came from a pawn shop way before i was born so i have no idea how much it is

Thanks
Eric

Folks,

I got lucky a few weeks ago and found parts on EBay. To search for original parts for this guitar, look for a Fender System 1 Locking Tremolo system.

I won with a $70 bid on EBay for the bridge, the locking nut and some of the fine tuning knobs.
